Backgammon Variations: Miscellaneous Games

Backgammon is a game which has many varieties and playing styles. These variations have twists and moves that make them uniquely different from the other.

DUTCH BACKGAMMON is a game where the 2 players start with all the chips off the backgammon board.

FRENCH BACKGAMMON is a game that starts with all of the chips off the board and doubles are played on the 2 sides of the dice.

OLD ENGLISH BACKGAMMON is a game that starts with all the chips of both players off the board and doubles are played on the 2 sides of the dice.

RUSSIAN BACKGAMMON is a race game and players must move their chips in similar direction and should bear off from the same home board. THE PIN GAME is similar to Platoko where the chips are rather trapped than hit.

PROOF is similar to the regular backgammon only that the players should start with the lower number.

SWEDISH TABLES is the same as the regular backgammon but with a twist. The players move around the board in the same direction and winning doesn't rely on just bearing off all the chips.

BACKWARDS PLAY is similar to regular backgammon and the players can move their chips forward of backward depending on the outcome of the dice roll.

BAD ADVICE is a variation move on the regular backgammon where a player is requested to move by his opponent; if the player refuses or doesn't follow the suggested move, the opponent can reject the other player's option, but this is allowed only once.

CHASE allows the players to set-up and play on a clockwise movement on the board in the same course.

DUODECAGAMMON is playing backgammon using 12-sided dice.

EXACT BEAR-OFF is to roll the precise point number of one chip in order to bear it off.

FREEZE-OUT MATCH is a game that is played as many times as necessary and once a player leads the match by pre-assigned points.

FIXED-DICE BACKGAMMON is a game played with a repeated opening roll throughout the game.

GERHARDSEN is a game where the winner rolls 2 dice and when the outcome is 2-1, the result will be reversed.

NO HIT is a game when a player hits his opponent, he'll lose.

NUCLEAR BACKGAMMON is when a player launches an attack, at any point during the match, causing all bolts to be on the bar.

ONE-ROLL LOOKAHEAD is a game that allows the player to check out his opponent's subsequent roll before finishing his play.

SKEWED-DICE BACKGAMMON is a game where one player uses a typical dice while the other player uses 4-sided and 8-sided dice.

SUDDEN-DEATH or HIT MAN is a game where the 1st player who hits a shot will win the game.

TRACY TURN-AROUN is a game when one's opponent drops the cube which seems to be a take, he can ask the opponent to double the payment for dropping before continuing the game with sides reversed.

WOODPECKER is a game that uses a 2-stage doubling rule.
